Is it possible to write a balanced book about Donald Trump? I think General H. R. McMaster did. The book is called At War With Ourselves: My Tour of Duty in the Trump White House. He was Trump’s second National Security Advisor, and lasted for about a year; before that, he was a Lieutenant General in the U.S. Army, with a distinguished combat record. A West Point graduate, McMaster adheres to the grand military tradition of non-partisanship. He has never voted. He serves.

John Ellis was off this week, so I conducted the interview alone. We touched on the state of the world, the state of the nation and what it was like to work for Trump. McMaster was carefully candid throughout.
