They bet he'd stay silent on the actual classified materials, even in the face of the bullying this crew is wont to do. Bad bet; and any damage that results is in their lap. To compound the idiocy, apparently AG Bondi is tossing around threats to prosecute Goldberg. I'd like nothing better than to see Gabbard, Hegseth, Ratliffe, and Waltz commit perjury in open court, hopefully under cameras!

BTW, I have no sympathy for them. I think the Houthi operation was designed to be a distraction over the weekend while they were selling out Ukraine. Hopefully the EU stays strong on its position about retaining sanctions on Russia!

Yep. After a successful mission, Trump ought to be furious with these dopes. (Many of whom I like)😌

Common sense masquerading as Crisis management: When in a hole, stop digging. Admit culpability and fix the damn problem. No obfuscating, finger pointing or denying reality. As the Outlaw Josie Wales put it, “don’t p—- down my back and tell me it’s raining.”

I wish it would be more than a Signal marketing event. But it won't.

I can only imagine what the Russians and Chinese listening in were thinking. Like Goldberg, I imagine they must have initially thought - No, this has to be a fake, an entrapment. Until the realization dawned that these Americans really are that stupid. My guess is that these folks will continue using Signal and private phones but will check their distribution lists more carefully.

As I’ve said, Joe is a friend and I respect his writings. The essay is really good. It’s time we stopped seeing our response to this awful government as something complicated to work out. It’s not. Call it what it is, every day. Joe does this here on an issue he knows a lot about

Bo, you can piss in the wind. I will not be non-stop angry. I will build a case, over time, and try to bring along the many Sanity Clause readers who are Republicans. Because I have zero faith in the beliefs and anger of the libs. It is only Sanity, giving credit where due and being brutal when it's required that will have any credibility in the end. It isn't over. It is just beginning.

Try to keep up Joe; Hegseth didn’t release any “War Plans” as the serial liar and scumbag Jeff Goldberg stated. It was an attack status, sensitive but hardly a War Plan. Yes it was Goldberg who repeated John Kelly’s lie that President Trump said American soldiers were “suckers” and “losers.” No one else in the room heard that comment and several denied it ever happened. Given President Trump’s obvious affection for US troops, only those at the bottom of the IQ curve would believe the lie repeated by Goldberg.

Speaking of which, notice that Goldberg obviously shared his captured signal chat texts with the congressional democrats in advance so they could prepare to ambush Trump cabinet members in their hearing scheduled on Wednesday, all the while he was still sanctimoniously preaching that he wouldn’t publish them because of his LOL-“patriotic duty” to protect US military assets. Then he releases his story with the texts just before the congressional hearing. At least Goldberg remained true to form; a liar, a hypocrite and a scumbag. And he gave the congressional democrats another opportunity to make fools of themselves acting like the petulant children that they are.

Trump’s “obvious affection for US troops”??? On the contrary, his contempt for soldiers -and, in fact, anyone who devotes their life to altruistic causes or public service- is his most defining characteristic. In fact, setting aside the amusing idiocy of the security leak, the most telling theme of the revealed texts is the underlying assumption that all foreign and military policy should essentially be a form of extortion. Every action must be a form of bullying; every policy emerges from self pity. We are leaving the free world no choice but to leave us behind.

Deplore--I allow you to comment here because you paid your way in. Thanks. But I want you to know that your vitriol and extremism are obnoxious. I'm hoping to run a comments page that is thoughtful and useful to all of us. Your comments reflect the vicious stupidity of both MAGA and Woke culture. Please try to control yourself.

Joe, Curtis already admitted that he is a child:

As I stated, I’m not going to play with foolish children.

When I challenge some of your assertions I base my comments on facts and logic which you have never disputed or countered. If you find being challenged with facts and logic obnoxious, then that is your problem. If you think when I demonstrate how scumbags like Jeff Goldberg are liars and hypocrites that it’s being vitriolic, I say again, try challenging my comments with facts and logic. If you believe that what I’m saying is stupid, then I put to you that you just aren’t intelligent enough to understand them. I think what really frustrates you is that you don’t like to be proven wrong (A shared malady of the political left). And if you’d like to play in the sandbox of your making with children, including children who fool you into believing that they’re adults, then knock yourself out.

Overheard on a Signal group chat where 16 Democrat strategists were in earnest discussion. We are failing badly was the central theme. We are the dirty tricks department and we have no plan.

It was getting desperate, until somebody said. You know that stunt we pulled with Michael Flynn, why don't we do that again. Anybody here have Jeff Goldberg's phone number.

An alternative explanation is that the top strategists of the Trump administration used Signal precisely because texts on that platform are eventually erased -and they know in their heart of hearts that their petulant attitude toward Europe is really pretty despicable. The MAGA crowd has pulled off the extraordinary feat of obliterating more than a century of America generating good will and influence in a matter of 10 weeks. I shudder to think how deeply we will be loathed by, say, 2026.
