I’m also a fan of Nellie’s TGIF. Bari can go over the top on Israel, but it has so few defenders these days that I forgive almost anything except a defense of Bibi. I disagree with a whole bunch of her contributors but enjoy being confronted with ideas I don’t like. I especially like that I don’t know what I’m going to find. The writing isn’t quite up to your standards but one can’t have everything!

Have enjoyed The Free Press since finding it, and find Nellie's TGIF a rare treasure.

Your writing seems to be sharper in opposition versus service. Am enjoying it even more under Trump.

Joe, thanks for yet another vocabulary lesson! “…slow-burning fuse of federal desuetude.” I consider myself a wordsmith but you never fail to send me to an online dictionary. Do keep words such as “desuetude” in your head or grab them out of your trusty thesaurus?

Regarding Barry Weiss, check out the John Oliver episode 3 weeks ago. She is one son, Free Press owner David Ellison, removed from MAGA Mega-bucks Larry Ellison. Just say'n. Obit writer's motto: "We write about the dead for a living." John Kenny

Do you read The Free Press? It is about as independent as you can get—and, trust me, I’m pretty militant about independence.

Full and brutal takedown of Bari by John Oliver who has more integrity in his pinky than she does anywhere at all.

Bari Weiss’ security detail costs CBS $10,000 a day as network undergoes layoffs

Are you saying she shouldn’t be protected? Or are you saying the layoffs aren’t justified, given the need for an overhaul of how network news is presented? I don’t know the answer to either question. But change is necessary, and controversial.

Or nautically perhaps, tow, as in pulling a barge rope. Or maybe not. You're probably right.

Who knew the MAGA myth would replace Covid as the bogeyman du jour? Trump is and always has been, since being sworn in the 2nd time, a lame duck. Anyone who passed American History with a "D" knows that fact, even if it instilled great joy in Dems to pretend Trump would command a great unwashed MAGA Army who would insist on burning the Constitution, in exchange for the 3rd term by an 83 year old.

That this insanity still exists, even as the origin of Biden's "Remain in Texas" policy was revealed, is more than bit amusing. The Biden WH fully intended to put ankle monitors on millions migrants and legally require them to remain within Texas borders for the 2-7 years it took to evaluate their asylum claims. All because Greg Abbott offered a free bus ride to a few migrants seeking to reside in Blue cities.

"Remain in Texas" was to be undertaken for millions, without a single extra apartment, doctor or bilingual teacher to shelter them and tend to migrant needs. Only pollsters and pundits explaining such a stunt would not only be blatantly unconstitutional, but draw more attention to the border crisis, convinced Dems to abandon the insanity.

Trump was not elected because of mythical MAGA worship, but because Biden and Dems decided if they could not convince American voters to support Dems at the ballot box, Dems would play the long game, and import their own future constituents. That migrants arrived like beasts of burden with no where to sleep, eat, use the bathroom, or raise their children, was not a concern for Dems.

Nor did the prospect of millions sleeping in tents for years cause any consternation for Dems, as long as the tents stayed in Texas. If Americans fear the Constitution being torched, they should realize it will not be Trump or his fictitious MAGA minions that strike the match, but Dems, who have already shown great proclivity for such behavior.
