You are most likely referencing the same person in your very good book Charlie Mike - but the skeptic in me ask why are they there in the first place? Why would any of us want to be there - now. There are too many unanswered questions. Our politicians need to work towards the middle and solve problems. Our press needs to take both ‘sides’ to task and ask hard questions- you included. Don’t be a cynic be a skeptic.

Joe Klein's avatar

I don't think I referenced him in Charlie Mike.

Both sides. As in those who, want to create an authentic system with the orange, guy at the top,and those who, don’t?

The tragedies could have easily be avoided. If Dems seek to allow any non criminal person on earth who reaches US soil to stay forever, regardless of illegal entry, the lack of a valid asylum claim, vetting or economic self sufficiency, Dems should draft legislation that says that.

If the vast majority of Americans want all non criminal illegally dwelling migrants to remain in the US, regardless of legality or cost, passing new Immigration laws will be a slam dunk. Trump, the most flexible President in history, will sign them.

Dems that believe they can ignore federal law on a topic completely controlled by the Federal Government, without eventual Red State blow back, are kidding themselves. Texas would love to ignore federal gun laws and EPA laws that govern the extraction of oil and gas. This mess is inviting them to do so.

Especially when they real topic is Apportionment. Blue Staes have lost American citizens to Red States, en mass. To the extent those fleeing Blue States have been replaced, it is largely by Biden migrants that count for Apportionment, even if they cannot vote.

Blue States are already going to lose House districts and electoral votes, due to population loss in 2030. That is before Hurricane Mamdani hits NY, and a wealth tax arrives in CA.

If SCOTUS kills districting based on the Voting Rights Act, Dems will lose even more districts. If Biden's 10 million migrants were to return home, on top of the other losses, for all practical purposes, it may be the final nail in the Dem political coffin. Dems may never hold the House again, and the WH becomes a much higher hurdle. Dems are fighting each and every deportation as if their lives depend on success, because politically, they do.

If Trump wises up and offers migrants $10K for self deportation, Dems will come unglued. They need to keep every migrant here, at least until the 2030 Census.

@RondaRoss, You hit the nail squarely on the head. In addition, the SCOTUS will soon be ruling on birthright citizenship.

Thank you Joe. I am not one who cries but seeing the picture this morning of the men in fatigues with a pistol pointed at a man already down ( my husband and stepson retired military and other son 9 years in military) made my heart sick. I could not stop the silent tears from falling for everything I love and fear about my country.

I for one, refuse to be hopeless. Period. The danger now is not so much ICE, but will the protestors get out of the way, so that the damage done, can finally be seen, ICE, etc., is a very poor lot compared to the real stormtroopers. Those people were organized, had their targets, objectives, and outside of run ins with their opposition, the communists, rarely met any resistance.

ICE is and does, because it is doing things in ways that do NOT agree with the American tradition, or heritage. This should end most of the round ups and get back to getting only the actual criminals, those who have committed felonies, sent out of the country.

A sad and unnecessary death has occurred, only by restoring the truth, that our government is meant to help us, not to control us, is restated, will his death be a turning point towards both Justice and a positive future.

Deplore This's avatar

Nope. You need to recognize that the majority of native born US voters voted to mass deport all of the illegal aliens let in by the pre-Trump administrations. They are all criminals by violating US immigration law. If you don't like it, then change the law. I will not vote for it, so good luck.

Michael Kupperburg's avatar

Like it or not, many who have made it to America, have built lives, families, and businesses. They have made their areas safer and better. Most economists are of the belief that they add far more to our nation, in just about every way.

In all likelihood your ancestors were immigrants. Those who come, obey the laws, pay taxes, and help our society deserve to stay. Any that commit serious crimes deserve to be sent away.

Deplore This's avatar

Most economists are liberal arts professors. Liberal arts professors are some of the dumbest people on the planet. There is the old adage that those who can do and those who can't teach.

So try to keep up; in today's circumstances an open border combined with a welfare state will destroy the prosperity of the US.

Michael Kupperburg's avatar

I am not for open borders, what Trump has done there is good work. Disturbing the peace of families and cities is not a good act, hence our different views.

Deplore This's avatar

How is President Trump "Disturbing the peace of families and cities" who aren't violating US immigration law?

Joe Klein's avatar

How about pulling a near-naked Hmong resident—with papers—from his house on a frozen night, you pathetic, deluded moron…or Russian bot. Didn’t your programmers code you on this?

Michael Kupperburg's avatar

Happy law-abiding families should be left alone, in my view. I see no reason to split them up. Especially if they are doing good work, as well as good works.

Lary Marler's avatar

Bingo!! Nailed it Joe.

Bowman Cutter's avatar

As,you might imagine I agree. I think one has to,come to,a hard decision. These people are trying to destroy the America we,have all kept teyimg to create. There is,nothing good, about them. They are monsters. There is no excise for, ever trying any kind of compromise. There are no policies of their’s any one of us can support. I,have no,idea, how,we,can get, back, but, one start,is,to,say clearly to,everyone working ,for, them, that there is,going to,be accountability. That what they have done will not,be forgotten

Deplore This's avatar

Joe, you have surpassed your normal level of idiocy and ignorance. You are complicit in radicalizing all of these low IQ losers who violently put themselves in harms way against law enforcement officers who are enforcing the law and what the majority of the voters voted for. Only those at the bottom of the IQ curve believe the lies from the Worthless Compost and the failed NYTimes. I’m sorry about your mental illness, i.e. TDS, but President Trump is the greatest president of our lifetime. Joe, the bottom line is you just aren’t intelligent enough to understand this. You should just relax and let the adults in the room handle this.

Lynda Joel's avatar

you can't possibly consider yourself "the adult in the room." your response to this tragedy is so typical of the larger tragedy of whom we have become.

Bowman Cutter's avatar

This guy delights in writing incomprehension but insulting comments. It’s,best to,be,amused,by him but not answer.

Deplore This's avatar

Sorry that this is too complicated for you to understand.

Deplore This's avatar

How so? I think it's obvious that you just aren't intelligent enough to understand what's going on. Joe Klein certainly isn't. Do you believe his claptrap?

Deplore This's avatar

Child, I'm sorry that this is too complicated for your limited intellect.

Joe Klein's avatar

This is either a moral idiot or a Russian bot. Note the repeated use of "limited intellect." Best to ignore. He pays his nickel so I allow him to comment here, even if his (its?) comments are vile and insulting. Thank you, Deplore, for your generous support.

Deplore This's avatar

Joe, yet another fact free comment. You have never been able to factually dispute any of my posts. You continue to demonstrate your limited intellect. Really, a Russian bot? But you do entertain me by providing the opportunity to torture you with facts and logic. You are the proxy for all of the other lying idiots in the lamestream media.

Joe Klein's avatar

Again, "limited intellect." Note to Russian programmers: this bot needs to be updated. Its conspiracy "facts" are outdated. Its anger is repetitive and useless. The world has moved on.

Deplore This's avatar

Joe, you continue to entertain me with your "limited intellect" and "Russian bot". Yet another fact free response. Question; is it physically painful to be so stupid and ignorant?

Susanne K. Williams's avatar

Please crawl back into the ooze, from which you have briefly emerged. We won't miss you when you're gone.

THIS COMMENT MEANT FOR Deplore This.
