Joe, I’m feeling an anger I haven’t felt since Vietnam. The kind of callousness towards our young men in battle wàs much like what we are seeing today. We organized to rescue ourselves from that nightmare. I can barely walk now let alone march, but we have to save ourselves. There is no one else to come to our rescue.

Good piece. My sense about opposing them is that policy comes second. Until we are willing to call out what we are seeing, to name it we will not get to a point where we can deal with policy.

I happened to be in Montreal on 9/11 - the good folks of Canada could not have been nicer or more empathetic. I actually wound up on the Montreal evening news that night thanking them for their kindness. Through numerous visits and, uh, one former girl friend, there is no place I have loved more. And these petulant children have thrown most of the goodwill away in a mere ten weeks through sheer churlishness and their inability to resist bullying. About the only good thing that may come out of this is that we may have delivered Canada from the hands of a cheap Trump wannabe.

The rest of the world will, I hope, work with Canada to forge a set of trade agreements that will leave the US in the dust. Our best hope is that the With Honor Republicans will see the damage to this country that is being inflicted by these clowns and work with the democrats -and the Supreme Court- to bring these heels to heel.

Florida, the nation turns its lonely eyes to you. 🇨🇦 ❤️

You have to be really bad to lose to Trump (twice). As awful as he is, and he is awful, people voted for him because he wasn’t as awful as what they had just lived through for four years. That combined with the fact that Kamala did not exactly inspire confidence is why he is President.

I couldn’t vote for him, and I can’t stand him and really don’t like some of what he is doing. I completely understand why people voted for him.

I may, of course, be wrong, but I don't believe the American people are as dumb as both political parties believe they are. The Dems thought nobody was noticing that they were running an open border and implementing a new-marxist identity policy. Guess they found out differently. The new bunch thinks we have forgotten who are our friends and who are our adversaries and will never figure out why that big-ass truck suddenly costs a lot more. Guess they'll find out differently too.

Again, I may be mistaken, but I also have a feeling that some elected Republicans are going to come to the conclusion they should worry a little less about primaries and a little more about general elections.

Years ago, as the next generation of military veterans started joining Congress, I felt like they would be the leaders. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

“Excellent reporting in Politico” is an oxymoron. Anyone who believes their crap is destined to get it all over themselves, case in point this opinion piece. To cut to the chase, there is no reason that military allies should be allowed to put non-reciprocal tariffs on US goods. The two are not interconnected.

Concerning the rest of the crap in this piece:

President Trump is the best president in my lifetime. I don’t disagree with any of his policies or actions, other than to make Canada the 51st state. But there I recognize that he’s just trolling Justin Castro Trudeau. That’s right, little Justin is the illegitimate son of Fidel Castro. Next time you meet a Canadian hockey player, ask them. I’ve also come to appreciate Trump’s boorish personality as a feature rather than a bug because he pisses off everyone I want to be pissed off. It entertains me watching all the TDS afflicted petulant children throw their hissy fits. Since the circus closed where else can we see the clowns? You just can’t buy this entertainment.

The war in Ukraine is the largest offshore money laundering scam of US taxpayer dollars in history which the DC swamp and corrupt Ukrainian Oligarchs plan to continue down to the life of the last Ukrainian. There has been no accounting of where the $200+billion in aid was spent and even Zelenskyy states they’ve received only around $74 billion. The DC swamp and the mush for brains media make Putin a bogyman to fool the gullible to support the ongoing extortion of US taxpayers. Putin is a thug but he has enormous approval among Russian citizens and the CIA has murdered more people than Putin ever has. Furthermore, the wicked witch of the west, Vitoria Nuland, spent $billions with the CIA in 2014 on a color revolution to overthrow the duly elected Ukrainian President and install their puppet Zelenskyy. The fact is that eastern Ukraine, including the Donbas and Crimea, are inhabited by Russians and have been attacked by Kiev even after two Minsk agreements. The eastern Ukrainians voted in a ballot referendum to leave Ukraine and return to the Russian Federation and their right of self-determination has been ignored. The Russians accomplished their objectives in two weeks after invading Ukraine in 2022 and Putin proposed a peace agreement which Zelenskyy agreed in principal but Joe Biden dispatched then UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to meet with Zelenskyy telling him to keep fighting. Zelenskyy for the first time has allowed foreigners to buy Ukrainian property and Blackrock has been buying it up. If it weren’t for the return of President Trump they would be looking for US taxpayers to foot the bill to rebuild the country and maximize their profits. President Trump will finally end this blood bath three years and over a million lives after it could have ended.

J.D. Vance was spot on admonishing the European leaders.

RFK Jr. and the Trump administration aren’t going to allow “a revival of unnecessary plagues like Measles or Polio”. That’s just fearmongering media porn.

It’s entertaining to watch the clueless media continue to question how MAGA supporters think for ourselves and don’t believe their propaganda.

Ho hum churn goes the fake turmoil needed to fill the blogs and airwaves with anti Trump money spinning articles. Its a game. High speed rail anybody? Lets ignore what is really happening to the country. When a democracy led by Democrats can't build 10 miles of High speed rail and a God forbid authoritarian country can build thousands, why not ask a few questions. Are we as smart as we think we are? It used to be give peace a chance. Now its Give Trump a chance. What have you got to lose as you get on board our recently completed high speed superstar rail project? California's the place to be said Jed Clampett.

Respectfully, Mr. Smith, your comment is entirely non-responsive. You might have said, “we no longer live in a unipolar world. 80 years of American generosity in the form of ‘globalism” have left the US in a bad fiscal situation and without the industrial base that powered its middle class. Trump is trying to force our NATO allies to dramatically increase their contributions to mutual defense and secure the Arctic from future Russian aggression; push Chinese influence out of the Western Hemisphere; and prevent Islamic jihadism from getting a foothold in the US as it has in Europe. He’s not a statesman or a clever politician, but the clever had decades to do it their way and failed. The American people voted for his way. “

Of course, even if the above were true I’d still think he’s a bully who, like most bullies, surrounds himself with fools, dupes and clowns. But at least we could have principled discussion about things that matter.

And yes, the damn train is a very bad look.

It’s not fake turmoil for the Ukrainians, desperately working against an American President trying to sell them out. It’s not fake turmoil for the people of Plattsburgh, Detroit and Buffalo whose economies have thrived on Canadian-American partnership. It is not fake turmoil for the millions of people throughout the world who relied on USAID for food and medicines and have now been left bereft. These were not Democratic achievements, they were American ones - and the fact that you take such delight in seeing them undone makes me wonder what happened to you.

The problem with the High Speed Rail project was that California (like most states) is set up so many, many actors can hold the project hostage. If the Democrats have a weakness, it is their willingness to listen to consultants - it has bedeviled their campaigns and their governance. But none of this is reason to toss aside the greatest experiment in democracy the world has ever seen. There is still time to avoid the worst, I would ask that you consider helping in the effort.
