As you’d guess, don’t agree. First, your argument amounts to saying that because Trump is willing to commit multiple felonies he should get a pass because to deal with them “clutters” things up. Second, negative polarization is real. There is probably not a single vote in America that has changed because the world is “picking on” Trump. His base now likes him more because it believes he is a messenger from their god and is sacrificing for them. I don’t think the American Justice system should contort itself because of this new religion of Trump
If a person gets a ticket for 85 in a 55 zone at 3 a.m. on a lonely road there's no damage to anyone else, no one (other than the ticket recipient) is affected. It's the law. Similarly if T***p represents fraudulent information when applying and schmoozing for a loan he violates a law, since no one seems to be 'hurt'. It's the law. However we he misrepresents property values as being low to avoid property taxes he both violates the law and negatively affect the other taxpayers by increasing their taxes. The fact that neither banks nor municipalities performed adequate due dilligence does not invalidate the laws. And the fact that there is a statute of limitations on all but capital crimes and those of rape means the violations are not with one forever. T***p got caught, should not be treated any differently than anyone else. Any other arguments don't make sense.
In the six polls ending roughly now posted on 538, Trump’s numbers range from 46% to 40%. He has never gone beyond this range. His ceiling is 45% or 46%. To repeat there is such a thing as negative polarization, the horse race stuff the media loves no longer exists. It is extremely unlikely that a single vote changed because some prosecutors have dared to try to hold Trump to the same standards as anyone else.
His ceiling needs to be lower for two reasons: Third parties--your argument--and Dem strength in blue states....If you're right, why did his poll numbers increase over the past year? His ability to make hay off the court cases and Dems "strategies" like warning of dictatorship. His core cult is about 30% of the electorate. Anything above that can be appealed to.
At this point, No Lables does not appear to be a threat. They have made no case whatsoever as to how they differ from moderate Democrats, which is what Biden essentially is. The left wing stooges Stein and West are a much greater source of concern; so far there has been no advocacy for them on this site, will be interested to if anyone shows up. As for No Labels, if their advocates are all as uncivil as you, I am going to rest easy.
True, they can’t. And that is partly because there are very few cases in which a Democrat is well to the left of their constituents. Oddly enough, one of the exceptions to that rule is my own congressman here in Westchester, who I hope to dislodge with a more moderate challenger. But No Labels might well be called No Purpose.
Regarding Israel: In 1973 I was on a college kibbutz study group when war broke out (same kibbutz where Bernie Sanders spent time 10 years earlier but refuses to talk about; I know why). My group decided to stay and I lived through that war and the aftermath. It created a bond with and love for the nation that I felt was unbreakable. I can rightly claim as a WASP to the status of – unlike that psychotic cockwomble George Santos – being Jew-ish.
Bibi has sundered it with his Hitlerian genocide in Gaza. I am disgusted beyond belief with official Israeli actions. Yes, Joe, time for Biden to play hardball with him.
An opportunity for the only solution was lost after 9/11, and Al-Queda relesaed a communique that cited US support of Israel one reason for the attack. If I was POTUS at the time – a job I would never ever want – I would have immediately picked up the phone and called Israeli PM Ariel Sharon and said: Game over. Not another red cent or support/military suppls until you get the fuck off the West Bank and a nation for the Palestinians is established there and in Gaza
Given what had been my love for and support of the Jewish nation, it breaks my heart that I now oppose the plan to give Israel many more millions.
I disagree with Joe here seems to me that the point of a law and a coûrt is to try to establish a just society. There have been 436 previous cases where people were tried for precisely what the Orange guy did. If you did it as outrageously as he did you would be indicted and tried. So why is he special and why does it possibly matter that the prosecutor is black. And if we managed the world so the MAGA crowd would be happy we’d have a fairly unpleasant world.
Because, Bo, as you often argue, we are in a unique situation here. We have to defeat Trump. These lesser cases are cluttering the argument against him and building the impression among average folks that the Dems are ganging up on him. That may or may not be true, but it's debilitating to the cause, which should be focused on the January 6 case.
His poll numbers have stayed in the same range for the last few years, there hasn’t been a trend. What has happened is that Republican approval of him has increased ……,probably because they see this more and more a theological question. And 1/3 of his 40% to 46% range is not convincible. This is a cult and there isn’t that much swing within its. To restate in my view every one of the current court cases are legitimate and they have not caused any movement in the real electorate.
There are 20 congressional districts in New England, of diverse economic strata , but all majority white who are happily reprinted by Democrats, without complaint, and doing fairly well economically. Ditto the suburbs of New York, Philly, Baltimore and Washington. Ditto most of the West Coast. Almost all of the most prosperous counties in the US (and I am looking at, you, Suffolk County, wondering why you are an exception). So - no, Charles, despite their various faults, the Democrats represent white folks quite well. We are the party, for now, of dignified adults, I look forward to the day the Republicans stop driving their adults out the door.
You can either contact Substack, which handles the business side of this operation...or you could become a more civil participant here.
Not exactly. You have to do it, not them. Refund $60, Klein. Don't be a greedy chiseler.
$80 * (10/12) = $66.67 - 10% = $60

How do you explain then the rise in his poll numbers every time a new case comes along? He's still beatable, but he was eminently beatable a year ago.

Look carefully, I did not claim he was taken to task for his undervaluing scheme. Yet.

It's amazing how often right-wing morons make statements about others that actually are about themselves.
I call bullshit on your theory, Charles, with all due respect.
Not MY people. (I have Black family.)
You are WRONG & WAY out of line plus incredibly disrepectful.
