Picture this: Hitler invades Poland and makes clear that he intends to take over all of Europe. Churchill asks Roosevelt for help. Roosevelt says first we make a deal in which you pay us whatever we want. And we are not going to promise to keep you safe from Hitler on Day 2. Churchill says you want us to surrender to Hitler but first pay you? Roosevelt says, that's right. England says no f_king way. Roosevelt proceeds to scream at Churchill and Garner (or Wallace, take your pick) gives a snide lecture on the proper way to capitulate. Churchill leaves the Oval Office, Roosevelt tells the Jews, "Too bad about your families but it's Churchill's fault for not giving up the country he took an oath to defend. Roosevelt calls Hitler and says "We did it." Germany develops the atomic bomb and uses it on NYC and says you better behave. There are no Jews left to go to Palestine, there is no United Nations to establish Israel, and Hitler has had his final solution. Hitler lets Roosevelt put his name on the Eiffel Tower.
That spectacle in the Oval Office was stomach churning. Of all the things this cretinous pig has done over the last ten years that is among the most disgraceful.
The entire Democratic conference should on the Hill should immediately demand that Spkr Johnson invite Zelensky to address a joint session.
He will never agree to do it, but at least the Dems could show a little outrage and make life awkward for the many GOP Congresspeople who have consistently supported Ukraine
You really shouldn't be confused by Trump. His psychology is well known. He's been correctly diagnosed. It's just the limits that are surprising because there aren't any. To make it clear: He just doesn't care about you, and that not-caring extends all the way to shooting you in the street.
Trump may have just lost Ukraine, forced Europe to buckle up, and begin to kick out those states that are not heading towards a democratic future. That will have enormous impact on America and maybe even some little effect on Trump. Trump unfortunately has bought the hype that America can both do anything and do it alone. That is a great line for campaigning and a terrible mistake for governing.
A Europe that looks to itself, first and foremost, is not likely to be an ally, having been pushed into this situation, forcibly, by Trump. The changes will be quick, survival does that to a nation, especially if Putin does indeed gobble up Ukraine.
This may have been a day when weeks or months happen.

Is that about where we are?
Wow! That was excellent!
I really don’t know how a Russian plant in the White House would act differently.
I also do not believe T and V are pawns of the Russians. But why do they act this way?
I have personally never bought into the whole "Trump is a Russian agent" thing.
But gotta say, you do have a pretty good point there!!

Excellent as always!
“commerce tempered by idealism” — generally true…but doubt there was much idealistic about United Fruit era in Central America.
Of course not. Terrible business, as also Iraq and Vietnam...but all together, we're the most humane superpower in history.
