Bibi Bird Brain

Netanyahu, like Putin, is rooting for Trump. Joe Biden has to send him a very strong message: We will no longer provide Israel with offensive weapons, only defensive systems like Patriot missiles, until a new centrist Israeli government commits to a two-state solution. Netanyahu interfered in the American political process before, addressing Congress to thwart Obama. He is no friend of ours…and the sooner that groups like AIPAC get off the Bibi bus, the better it will be for the world, the United States…and, especially for American Jews.

Orange Bird Brain

Ok, Trump’s rolling…but he looks awful. His orange is fading into a burnt umber. Just look at this picture of him with Elise Stefanik. And his brain is turning spongy as well, famously confusing Nikki Haley with Nancy Pelosi. One thing that hasn’t changed: he is as rapaciously evil as ever, making fun of Haley’s birth-name, questioning her citizenship. One of the most disgusting things about his cult-followers is that they seem to like this sort of bigotry. I’m all for peace, love and understanding…but I’m not sure I want to be part of the sane universe as these turd-for-brains lowlifes.

Auto Boredomia

Driving down to the Winter Sanity Shack, I looked at the cars around me and thought about my dad. The cars on I-95 were black, white and shades of gray. Almost all of them. My dad had a turquoise and white 1954 Mercury with white wall tires, tail fins and lots of chrome. It was a day at the beach, a vehicular smile, visual refreshment—a statement of American optimism. Where are the colors of yesteryear? What does it say about us that it’s difficult to distinguish an Audi from a Chevy on the highway? All sedans, all SUVs, all pickup trucks—except those souped-up by Trumpers—look the same. What does that say about our national state of mind? Perhaps if we expressed ourselves by driving creamsicle-color cars—or classy two-tone models, like Inspector Morse’s old red-and-black Porsche—we might have less of a need to spew vitriol. (By the way, Sanity Goddess, a denizen of the world of interiors, says all kitchens look the same nowadays, too).

My Next Car

I’ve been driving Toyota Camry hybrids for the past 15 years. I was thinking about an electric this time, but I’m thinking that the current battery technology is as likely to prevail as eight-track cassette tapes did in the world of audio. And then there’s winter: cold kills batteries, as northern Teslators are finding. So I’m leaning toward another hybrid—but a colorful one this time, a car I can find in parking lots.

Progressive Reactionary Bird Brains

CNN is reporting that some “progressive” House Democrats are threatening to vote against Ukraine aid if Joe Biden makes a tough immigration deal with the Republicans. These people are, as ever, absolutely intent on losing elections.

And now we wait for Tuesday….
