There should be live play by play announcing for political debates and you should be Keith Hernandez - the entertaining, informative anecdotal color guy.
Good comments Joe, as you conveniently agree with me on most points. I rather enjoyed the debate, particularly the Trumpless parts, and I think that they will get even better with less candidates. Mostly, I think that literally everyone on the stage would be a far better President than the one we currently have, as well as the former one. But that is not the country we live in; not sure how we have arrived at this point but carnival barkers and shuffling non compos mantis types seem to be the order of the day. God help us.
Yup. They matter a lot, more than TV ads, which have been discounted by voters. They are imperfect, of course, and sometimes silly, but they give the clearest, most intimate sense of the character of the candidates to be had during the course of a campaign.

Love Keith. Honored by the comparison.

Loved the Vivek and Scott comments, Joe. Nikki had a good night and then blew it this morning on CBS when she said she’d pardon trump.
Joe—I’m really loving your commentary….astute and contextualized and a godsend now that I’m weaning myself off of cable news. Richard Rosen
Thanks, Richard. Would love to get together for a drink, or something, and hear about Sargent etc.
Do these "debates" even matter? To ANYONE?

I defer to your expertise. It's been a while since I've watched one, but honestly they make me gag.
Great analysis as always! Especially for one who doesn't have the attention span for the theatrics that is presidential debating.
