Yeah Joe, as a conservative I would have to disagree with your overall assessment of this President, particularly his foreign policy chops. I well remember Secretary Gates’ classic remark about President Biden being “wrong about every big foreign policy decision over the past forty years.” (As a Marine who did four tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, I was particularly disgusted by the way we departed Afghanistan).
By the way, I appreciated your comments on aging, including your own; We can all relate. And you are indeed still a very graceful writer.
Agree completely. And paralysis is precisely the right term to describe the Democrat's current condition. This is a critical moment. If something or someone doesn't shake them out of their current holding pattern, I fear the exact same thing you do: Biden just gets older, his ratings stay where they've been for the last 2+ years, and Trump goes ahead and pulls it out in 24'.
Joe Biden is not making any decisions about governing this country. It's time we stopped pretending that he is in charge. He is a construct of an amiable old man who has no say in any policy whatsoever. His was put in place for that very reason. He is a weak Emperor being managed by a Praetorian Guard.
Having said this, he can win next year for two reasons. For many he is a totem for policies that they support - see John Fetterman here in PA. They would vote for anyone who is representative of specific policies, even a senile 80+ year old like Joe. . The second reason is that the D's have enough lawyers and are in charge of enough states so that, even if Trump wins the state, his votes will be buried. If the D's need to turn 2-3 states, they will find a way to do it.
I saw his comments on Labor Day and he seemed to me but the job of leading a nation is a job for a young or younger person and we’d be well served by a younger candidate. Obama did a disservice to the country in 2015 or 16 telling Biden it was Hillary’s turn.
I think Joe, despite the many flaws, squeaks by against DJT given the huge negatives the Mango Mussolini will have by election time. But I (quite reluctantly and sadly) agree with the notion that if Nikki Haley somehow gets the nomination, we really do need to pile on and get the man to step aside. Like JK, I have been a great admirer of Biden for decades - but the age narrative is pretty deeply embedded, and we Democrats do not want NOT want the 2024 election to be referendum about US.
Thank you for saying this, I was beginning to think that I was the only one thinking this. I use a bus analogy for how America is and I have been advocating for Dems to pull a ‘Bait & Switch’…
Hidin' Biden

Sorry but I couldn’t disagree with you more. Biden is by far the best alternative we have against the treasonous imbecile and his cult members.

His eyes are slits because that’s what happens when you pull the wrinkles tight under the hairline with plastic surgery.
“And if Trump collapses, Haley or Pence or even DeSantis can beat Biden.“
Consider this
If Trump collapses, who says it will be Haley, Pence or DeSantis?
I predict this:
